“I paint about child wonder clashing with who we eventually become. For me painting is an attempt to reconcile the two ways of seeing. They help me hold onto the things that first made me happy - a practice I hope everyone has a plan for. Maybe they are laced with some kind of darkness that naturally blankets adult life - almost like an accident, because the images are made by my adult hand. The women in my work are usually engaged in an act of innocence, full of openness and empathy for the things we forget to notice as life goes on.”
